Highlights

  • Windsor Castle
  • Magna Carta
  • Stonehenge

Royal Windsor and prehistoric Stonehenge

Two icons in one journey: the world’s oldest inhabited castle and a 5,000-year-old stone circle on Salisbury Plain — with optional Roman Bath when time allows.

  • Door-to-door from central London or your hotel
  • Early starts recommended to beat peak queues
  • Salisbury Cathedral & Magna Carta can be added on longer days

Itinerary

Stop 1 — Windsor Castle

Official residence of the British monarch — State Apartments, St George’s Chapel, and ceremonial tradition at the heart of the route.

  • State Apartments with works by Rembrandt, Rubens, and Canaletto (when the castle is open to visitors)
  • St George’s Chapel — Gothic architecture and royal burials including Henry VIII
  • Changing the Guard on selected mornings (check schedule before travel)
  • Typically open Thursday–Monday; closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays (verify on the day)

Stop 2 — Stonehenge

Salisbury add-on

  • Salisbury Cathedral — Britain’s tallest spire (123 m) and home of the Magna Carta (1215)
  • Runnymede memorial meadows on routes that pass west of London

Stop 3 — Optional Bath extension

When your day allows extra mileage, Georgian Bath adds Roman bathing history, abbey architecture, and Pulteney Bridge.

  • Roman Baths — ancient spring and museum interpretation
  • Bath Abbey and the honey-stone Circus & Royal Crescent
  • Pulteney Bridge and riverside walks — best on a full-day booking

Planning notes

Windsor and Stonehenge together are ambitious in 3–4 hours — most guests prefer a full day; we quote honestly for your timing.

  • Pre-book castle and Stonehenge slots in peak season
  • Comfortable shoes and layers for the exposed plain
  • Vehicle stocked with water; lunch stops arranged to your taste

Ideal for

  • History-focused travellers
  • Guests who want two headline sights in one day
  • Extensions toward Bath when feasible
